Happy lovers day Ella Bear!
Today is not about the amount of flowers you receive (although they're always appreciated), or the cards you give and receive (don't forget to say thank you for everyone you receive), but about the love you have in your life & the love you give each and every day. I can think back on many Valentine's days where I swore up and down that I was better off single, free & Valentine's day was for suckers! Bah, who was I kidding? I was just putting up a brave front. This year however, I was delighted to see the day, knowing I had love in all areas of life. You, poppa, family, friends. The greatest gift you can give for Valentine's day is to yourself. But why stop at just one day? Don't forget to remind yourself how truly loved you are, even if its inside your head, when you catch a glimpse of your gorgeous grin in the mirror, smile a second longer at yourself. It'll make you feel that much more sure of yourself.
I used to be such a sucker for the cards, candies, teddy bears. But then I wondered, are the material things making up for a lack of the true feeling of love? It was almost like filling a void with calories and a bear that would end up lost one day. I can't tell you how much more profound true love is. What daddy & I have, its the real deal. No fuss, no frills, just real gives-me-goosebumps when he smooches me love. We may not always have the most thrilling talks over dinner, or the wildest times but we have all the things we need to make us happy, no need for fillers here! And look what this love made, you! The best treat of all.
I made sure to hold you extra long today and give you extra nuzzles. I read yesterday that between the time your born & the time you go away to college, we'll only get 900 or so Sundays together. I know to some it may seem like a lot, but when your a parent, you're racing against time to make every moment count. But sometimes in the routine of things, laundry, chores, tv shows, valuable time gets lost. So I made sure today to put all distractions aside, be in the moment with you and stay there. You LOVE music, when you hear it, you start to wiggle, bounce a little and when you see me dancing you giggle and I pick you up for a special twirl. You love every moment. I tell daddy I have visions of you as a ballerina, a dancer or maybe a piano player. But whatever it is that gets you moving, we'll be right there behind you, your forever cheerleaders! Love, momma
